Welcome to our Medical Practice
Dr Cooper grew up in Empangeni before going to Pretoria to study medicine at Tuks. She did her internship at Ngwelezane in 2013-2014 before going to Church of Scotland Hospital in Tugela Ferry for her community service year. In 2016 Dr Cooper and her husband, Colin moved to Pietermaritzburg and she worked in anaesthetics at Greys Hospital and obtained her diploma in anaesthetics. She took some time off from working when she had her two children and then she began part time GP work under a well respected family physician. The Cooper family moved back to Empangeni at the end of 2019 to follow God’s call into ministry.
Dr Cooper believes in the traditional model of a family doctor. She wants to look after your children through their childhood illness; help you monitor your chronic conditions and practice preventative medicine as well as looking after your parents in their golden years. Being a general practitioner means knowing you in the context of your family and your life; it means understanding the full picture of who you are. The GP is the middle of your health hub, keeping an eye on all the angles and branches.
